REVEREND ALFRED WRIGHT, JR.

In 2019, Rev. Wright was called to serve as the Assistant Pastor of St. Phillips Baptist Church where Rev. Dr. Andre Owens was Senior Pastor. Rev. Wright also served as the Superintendent of Sunday School, President of the Sunday School Auxiliary of the Mount Bethel Baptist Association, the Dean of the National Capital Congress of Christian Education and President of the Scholarship Committee for the Washington Baptist Theological Seminary Alumni
Association.

 

In  2021, upon the recommendation of Senior Pastor Emeritus Rev. Dr. Owens, Rev.Wright was appointed to the Office of Pastor.

Reverend Alfred Wright, Jr. is a native of Washington, DC where he was raised by his parents; the late Alfred Wright, Sr., and Betty Ann Wright, along with two sisters. He was educated in the Washington, DC Public School System and graduated from Archbishop John Carroll High School in 1989. Upon graduating High School, he began a career with the DC Fire and EMS Department where he has been employed for the past 30 years. Twenty-seven years ago, he married the love of his life the former Beatrice S. Rouse and through this union God blessed
them with three beautiful children: Alfred III, Aaliyah, and Alexis, and three grandsons Alijah, Kingston and William.

Rev. Wright received and answered the call to the Gospel Ministry in 2008 and was licensed to preach the Gospel in February 2009 and ordained in September of 2016. Rev. Wright earned his subsequent Bachelor of Theology Degree from The Washington Baptist Theological Seminary
Class of 2013.

Rev. Wright currently serves and the President of the National Capital Congress of Christian Education and continues as President of the Scholarship Committee for the Washington Baptist Theological Seminary Alumni Association.


In May 2023, Rev. Wright received a Master of Divinity Degree from The Washington Baptist Theological Seminary. He was the Valedictorian of the Class of 2023.


Rev. Wright is a family man who believes in the importance of family. He also believes in Community Activism and Social Justice, but most importantly, he is a child of the Heavenly Father, a Disciple, Servant, and true Believer in the Omnipotent Power of God.
