Our pastor, Rev. Dr. Terry L. Henry, is the son of the late Willie Howard and Cora

Lee Henry.  Pastor Henry was licensed to preach at his former home church,
Royals Chapel Baptist Church where he was licensed under the pastorate of the
late R. W. Lowe and ordained by the Middle District Baptist Association. He is
married to the former Jacqueline Bell Henry. They have two children, O’Bryant and
Bethany, and four grandchildren.  Pastor Henry’s love for his family is a priority in his
life as he seeks to honor God.

Dr. Henry began his education at University.  Later, he continued his education at the International Seminary in Florida.  He continued his education and completed his Master’s in Christian Education from University’s Divinity School.  At the recommendation of one of his professors, Dr. Timothy Brock, he sought out again on a quest to expand his theological education at the Theological Seminary in Virigina.  He graduated from GCTS and earned a DMIN (Doctorate of Ministry Degree with a concentration in preaching.  His dissertation was on, “Preaching from the Study to the Pulpit: How to preach sermons rooted and grounded in the text.”

In 2016, he was awarded an Doctorate in Divinity, (D.D.), an honorary doctorate from the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary in Paynesville City, Liberia.  The school recognized him for his passion for Christian Education and Missions.

Pastor Henry was called to serve Macedonia in 1988. He arrived on our campus at the young age of 22 and the Lord has grown both he and the ministry of Macedonia.  At Macedonia, God has blessed us with a great Spiritual, visionary leader. Pastor Henry’s ministry has taught us that, “For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead” (James 2: 26). He fervently preaches and teaches us about strengthening our walk of faith — believing without seeing. We pray God’s continued blessings on Pastor Henry and the awesome, Spirit-filled ministry God blesses him to give and edify at Macedonia.  We pray continuously for him, his family and the well-being of Macedonia.  Truly, God has richly blessed Pastor Henry, but he continues to acknowledge with amazement what God can do with recycled goods.

In October 2004, he was elected Moderator of the Middle District Missionary Baptist Association and served a total of five years. As moderator he led the association in to the acquisition of a ten acre tract of land a new headquarters.  The total education arm of the association was revamped and now, offers academies for preachers and deacons.  Pastor Henry has served as a Chaplain Associate at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.

Pastor Henry’s ministry has taken him to Israel to trace the footsteps of Jesus. Since his visit he has led several pilgrimages to the Holy Land.   He has also visited Germany, Prague Czechoslovakia, and Switzerland to trace the route of Martin Luther during the Reformation.  He has also led pilgrimages to Greece to trace the route of the Apostle Paul and the Isle of Patmos where John wrote the book of Revelation, Nairobi Kenya as a missionary, and Paris France.

In 2014, he was chosen by the Lott Carey Pastoral Excellence Team to teach and preach in Zimbabwe at the Zimbabwe Baptist Seminary.  In 2015, he was invited to teach in Nymba County, Liberia and a guest speaker at the Ricks School, a premier K-12 school in LIbeira.   In the same year, he was invited back to Liberia to serve as the commencement speaker at the 2016 graduation service at the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary.  The Board of Trustees of the Seminary reconnected with him and appointed him to serve as the 7th President of the Liberia Baptist Theological Seminary in Paynesville, Liberia.  With the help of the Lord and continued traveling mercies, he leads our church family and the Seminary without missing many beats!

From 2012-2015, he served as the site director and adjunct site instructor for the Interdenominational Theological Center (ITC) in Atlanta, Ga.  Currently, he serves the General Baptist State Convention as the 4th Vice-President of the Congress of Christian Education.  He is called on to teach and preach throughout the state and the country.  May God continue to bless the work of his hands!
